Astronomy Night at Antelope Island – overnight camping optional – November 5, 2021

Date and Time:  Friday, Oct 1st 7 pm-1 am and/or Friday, Nov 5th 5 pm-11 pm (you may attend more than one).

Who:  All LAU students, Williamsburg students, family members, and friends

Location:  Antelope Island. We will be at the White Rock Loop campsite (LSGA). 

  • The causeway is 7 miles to Antelope Island State Park. Turn left at the end of the causeway, then take your first right. Our site is right across from White Rock Bay. View Map

Food: LAU will have breakfast (bagels & cream cheese) for those who stay the night.

DetailsFamilies are invited to come earlier and stay as late as they like, park hours are 6 am -10 pm. We have reserved the group campsite for those who want to spend the night. Families are welcome and encouraged to stay the night with their students. No unsupervised students will be allowed to spend the night. LAU will not have more than a couple of staff members who will spend the night.

Fires are not permitted at this time.

What to Bring: Red light flashlights are preferred to white. Bring your own telescope, if you have one. Students spending the night should bring a sleeping bag and warm clothes, a camping chair, and a tent if desired.

Weather Conditions: This activity can only be possible in good weather. It may be canceled due to cloud cover or smokey conditions. If we need to cancel, we will send an email in advance to those who’ve signed up.

Fee: Entrance is free for those who come in with our group at 7 pm. You will need to let them know you are with LAU at the gate and they will keep a count of how many come in with our group. For those who come earlier than 7 pm, there will be a $15 per car charge to get into the park.
