Weekly Parent Email – August 14, 2020
We had fun connecting with you and your student in our online orientation this week! In case you couldn’t be there live, you can watch the recording from the Info Center page on our website.
Our mentors can’t wait to see your student in class starting this Monday, August 17! I hope your student is as excited to get started as we are.
If you have any final questions before classes start, please reply to this email or call us at 800-200-6869.
Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead,
Pete Jensen
Executive Director, LAU
Recommended course: Outdoor Adventures
Have you heard about our in-person Outdoor Adventures course? Students in this class meet ten times a semester for fun experiences in nature. We still have room left in many sections of this course throughout Northern Utah. If you want your student to have more opportunities for adventure and fresh air this semester, we encourage you to sign up in SIS.
Action Items
How to stay informed this school year: Watch this helpful video for tips on finding information and who to contact with specific questions throughout the year. You can also find this video on the Info Center page under Current Families on our website.
Mandatory Outdoor Adventures Waiver: All Outdoor Adventures (OA) students must complete this waiver no later than August 21. Students who do not have a completed waiver and medical history form on file will be removed from their OA section. Please check the LAU Calendar for the fall semester OA dates.
Last chance to schedule your student’s laptop pickup: If your student needs an LAU laptop this school year, please email computers@lautah.org to arrange a pickup at our Clearfield office or have one shipped to you (families are responsible for the $25 shipping cost). Please also email computers@lautah.org if you have a laptop to be returned.
Make sure your student has their books: See all the details for book ordering and reimbursement here. LAU also has a limited selection of books and science materials available for students at our Clearfield office. If you are interested in any of these books or supplies, please email books@lautah.org.
Dual Enrollment Declaration: Is your student taking a class at a local junior high or high school this year? We need to split your state funding with your neighborhood school. Please help us complete this process by filling out this form.
