Weekly Parent Email – August 7, 2020
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! We hope everyone is healthy and that you have had an enjoyable summer break. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome your student back to class on Monday, August 17th! In the meantime, this email contains some helpful info to help you kick off the year.
Please look out for this email at noon every Friday for a roundup of important action items, announcements, and upcoming events for the week ahead. We try to bundle as much information as possible into this email to avoid cluttering your inbox, so I encourage you to read it thoroughly.
I look forward to seeing you at our Online Parent & Student Orientation session next Tuesday, August 11 at 7:00 PM MT. You will receive a separate email with the link to attend this session. If you have any questions before then, please call us at 800-200-6869.
Looking forward to an excellent year!
Executive Director, LAU
Last chance to schedule your student’s laptop pickup: If your student needs an LAU laptop this school year, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a pickup at our Clearfield office or have one shipped to you (families are responsible for the $25 shipping cost). Please also email email@example.com if you have a laptop to be returned.
Reminder: Time to order your student’s books. Parents are responsible for ordering all student books and materials, with reimbursement from LAU. See all the details for book ordering and reimbursement here.
We have some books and materials available for free! LAU has a limited selection of books and science materials available for students at our Clearfield office. If you are interested in any of these books or supplies, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mandatory Outdoor Adventures Waiver: All Outdoor Adventures (OA) students must complete this waiver no later than August 21. Students who do not have a completed waiver and medical history form on file will be removed from their OA section. Please check the LAU Calendar for the fall semester OA dates.
Share your transformation story: We strive to create transformational learning experiences (TLEs) for you and your student. If you or your student has a TLE as a result of something they learn in one of their classes, we invite you to share your experience here.
COVID-19 Reopening Policy & Procedures: Please familiarize yourself with the following documents to be informed about our plan to address COVID-19 this fall:
- What Parents Need to Know
- Guidelines for Innovative Learning Centers
- Reopening Requirements & Assurances
Share your feedback via text: To give you the best experience this year, we will be reaching out via text message in the coming months to see how everything is going. We invite you to share your experience with us, and we value any feedback you would like to share.
LAU is now NCAA accredited! That means LAU student-athletes will be eligible to participate in sports programs at NCAA colleges and universities. Stay tuned for more details and a list of approved NCAA courses coming to our website soon.
Day at the Lake canceled: Due to recent public health reports, we have had to cancel both of this year’s Day at the Lake events in Northern and Southern Utah. Thanks for your understanding.
It’s not too late to order a 2019-2020 yearbook: You can view the digital yearbook here. For more information on how to customize and order a printed yearbook, click here.
LAU Prom photos are ready to order: Click here to order photos if your student attended last year’s prom.
New ACT test dates available: In addition to September 12 and October 24, national testing will also be available on September 19, October 10, and October 17. All dates may not be available at all locations (students will be able to confirm this when registering for the test). We anticipate that the remaining 11th-grade vouchers for fall testing will be available this month. If you have questions, please email Cindy Taylor at email@example.com.
