Weekly Parent Email – March 26, 2021
Hello from the Leadership Academy of Utah Board of Directors! I can’t believe we are almost ready to close our fourth year as a Utah charter school. If you have been with us for a while, you have seen us grow steadily every year. If you have just joined us this year, we hope you have felt the critical learning and growth culture we have strived to infuse into everything that LAU has to offer. Our incredible director Pete Jensen, his administrative staff, and our excellent partners at Williamsburg Learning have led the way and truly made LAU a one-of-a-kind education experience for our students.
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to share with you some exciting news. A few of us on the board have been around since before LAU was an official Utah charter school. I want to thank Suzanne Christensen and Dale Millsap who have worked tirelessly over the last six years to help get LAU approved and started and have also served in various governance capacities on the board. At the end of this school year, Suzanne, Dale, and I will be leaving the board as we will have reached our maximum terms of service. We are excited to still have Jana Stout and her passion for education as a board member. Over the past few months, we have added four great new board members who have stepped in to offer their passion, expertise, and service: Natalie Boyack, Holly Brinkle, Molly Foster, and Amy George. You can read about each of our new members on the Board of Directors page here. Please join me in welcoming them to the LAU board.
I am excited about the continued growth and success of LAU and your students. I am confident that the LAU Board of Directors will be able to continue serving you, your students, and the LAU administrative staff for years to come.
Sincerely,
Busch Jones
Board of Directors Chair, LAU
Action Items
LAU School Climate Survey now open: We encourage all students and parents to participate in our School Climate Survey. The information from this school-wide survey will help LAU understand our performance, assist with improvement efforts, and evaluate a range of aspects regarding the school’s environment. Results are completely anonymous and are submitted to both LAU and the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). This survey will be open until Monday, May 10. Students can access the student-specific survey from Homeroom. We appreciate your help in evaluating our school.
