Weekly Parent Email – October 9, 2020

October 9, 2020

This week, Williamsburg Learning’s Visionary, James Ure, explained the importance of letting teens feel temporarily overwhelmed to help them prepare for meaningful lives as principled leaders. We know our curriculum is challenging, and that students with full course loads often reach peak overwhelm this time of year. With midterms coming up next week, I encourage you to check in with your student to see how they are managing. As James said, now is a good time to remind them that, “In the right circumstances, intellectual overwhelm can be a blessing in disguise.”

Our Student Support Team is ready and available to help you with any questions or concerns. We wish you and your student the best of luck on next week’s exams and a beautiful fall break!

Warmly,

Pete Jensen

Executive Director, LAU

New location coming for the Logan ILC: As you may be aware, the Stevens-Henager building will be closing down soon. Our last day at this location is October 8. We have located a new facility in River Heights that is only a few minutes from the Stevens-Henager building. There are parks, tennis courts, and basketball courts nearby, and there is a small gym inside. We will be starting classes at the new location on October 22, after fall break.

Has your student had a Transformational Learning Experience? A Transformational Learning Experience, or TLE, helps students change the way they view themselves or the world in a profound way. If you or your student has had a TLE, please share it here! We love hearing about great experiences our students have in the classroom or on adventures with their classmates.

Did your student miss Inspiration Hour last week? Head over to Homeroom to watch last week’s discussion on “The Power of Vulnerability.”
