Weekly Parent Update – December 8, 2022
As we near the end of the semester, I love to reflect and see the incredible growth in our students. I feel a deep sense of meaning and gratitude as I see wonderful future leaders taking shape.
This weekend may be quite busy in your home as your students prepare for the end-of-semester deadline on December 13 at 9:00 PM MT for live classes and December 16 at 5:00 PM MT for self-paced courses. Below are a few practical tips to help your student finish the semester successfully.
Review assignments in Canvas after the midterm deadline and ensure that your student has submitted as many as possible.
Review any submitted assignments with a low score; there will be comments or feedback from the mentor on how to improve the grade.
If your student can only complete some assignments by the deadline, please help them to prioritize and complete the assignments that hold a greater weight than others. You can find information about assignment group weighting on the homepage of each Canvas course.
I’d also like to remind you that after next week, this Weekly Parent Update will be available exclusively through the Parent Info Center on our website (we won’t be sending it through email). Starting in January, a link to each Weekly Parent Update will be sent to you via Remind text message on Fridays. You’ll also receive a link to the Parent Info Center in your student’s Weekly Progress Report sent through SIS on Saturdays. If you aren’t already receiving our weekly Remind messages, you can join by following the simple directions found in the Announcement section of this email.
I wish your student the best of success in their exams, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday break!
Warm Regards,
John Tripp
Executive Director, Leadership Academy of Utah
