Weekly Parent Update – January 13, 2023

January 13, 2023

At Leadership Academy of Utah, we live by and reinforce what we refer to as our elevated ethics. These ethics are: build, serve, go first, and respect.

  • Build: I build others because I want them to succeed. I build myself by doing hard things.
  • Serve: I use my time and energy for the benefit of others.
  • Go first: I am a leader. Leadership is making and keeping commitments.
  • Respect: I treat others with humility and humanity.

It’s exciting to see our students learn about and practice these principles, receiving support from mentors and classmates as they do so. As we begin this new semester, I hope you’ll consider how you can implement these principles in your life and family as well.

Warm Regards,

John Tripp

Executive Director, Leadership Academy of Utah

Action Items

Join us for sleigh riding and elk observation at Hardware Ranch! Join us for a winter picnic and horse-drawn sleigh ride through herds of wild elk! This activity will be held at Hardware Ranch in Blacksmith Fork Canyon in Hyrum, Utah on January 27, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. LAU students are free, and family/friends can join for $3 each. Space is limited, so sign up today! Registration closes January 21, or when the activity maximum is reached.

Important notice for students who use Chromebooks: Beginning February 1, Zoom is transitioning to a new “Progressive Web Application” (PWA) for Chromebooks. LAU has already updated our Chromebooks, and this transition should not be noticed. However, if students run into issues joining Zoom on February 1st or later they can install the new PWA by visiting this page or by visiting the Google Play Store and searching for “Zoom for Chrome PWA.” They can also reach out directly to our IT Equipment Specialist David Olsen by calling 435-294-5242 (9:00 AM-5:00 PM MST) or emailing david@lautah.org.
