Weekly Parent Update – March 31, 2023
As mentioned in January, LAU has been participating in a comprehensive support and improvement program focused on increasing our high school graduation rate. We have been receiving feedback and are finishing our plans for improvement with the State Office of Education to strengthen our graduation percentages. We appreciate each of our parents that participated by taking the time to complete survey requests and share information. While reviewing this information, we have looked for trends and patterns to help support our students and families.
Recently, we reviewed information regarding our curriculum and mentor model. As you know, we have a connection with Williamsburg Learning. Through this connection, we benefit from strong mentor relationships and even stronger curriculum resources and reviews. We were delighted to learn that the state of Utah LAU scored highest in providing valuable opportunities for students. Our summer enrichment programs, Outdoor Adventures, online courses, and self-paced courses combine to support families’ and students’ learning experiences. We also scored high in the support we offer our students. If students struggle, we have a team who supports them in their efforts to elevate their learning and academic success. Our goal is to create a community intensely focused on student learning.
Our mentors form the foundation of our success, and we value their skills and knowledge as they impact our LAU students. If you have any questions about these processes, don’t hesitate to contact me to review our model and how it may best help your student.
Warm Regards,
John Tripp
Executive Director, Leadership Academy of Utah
