Weekly Parent Update – April 21, 2023
*This post has been edited to remove information about Study Skills until SIS is ready for parents to register.
In collaboration with Williamsburg Learning, LAU offers amazing courses to elevate student learning. Registration is underway now, and we encourage you to take advantage of these outstanding course offerings! Below I have highlighted and linked several learning options that we have available in addition to the traditional online classes.
For many students, in-person learning opportunities, such as Funded Independent and Adventure Friday courses, are the perfect fit. Generating school credit while doing something engaging in the community helps students and families. These in-person learning offerings are unique and can save families money while students learn new skills and explore new interests!
Self-paced courses are perfect for self-motivated students willing to set a schedule to pace themselves to learn. These courses offer increased flexibility for student and family schedules. These classes are a good fit for students who are mature enough to learn independently. Parents and students need to know that if students fail a self-paced course, they will be ineligible to retake this same course in a self-paced setting.
We are here to help you during this registration process. Please feel free to contact our school counselors with any questions or concerns. Classes are filling fast, so take the time to complete your student’s registration today!
Warm Regards,
John Tripp

Action Items
End-of-Year Computer Returns: To manage and update our device inventory, we require certain laptops and Chromebooks be returned so we can remove them from circulation. Mandatory returns include exiting LAU students and computers or Chromebooks numbered below 560. If your student’s computer needs to be returned, please complete the Return/Exchange form and select your return method.
Keeping Laptop/Chromebook from One Year to the Next: Returning LAU students who keep their laptop/Chromebook from one school year to the next are required to complete the Laptop/Chromebook/Equipment Loan Agreement form as an annual renewal of their computer contract. Please complete this form if you plan to keep your student’s laptop/Chromebook over the summer.
