Weekly Parent Update – May 19, 2023
What a great year! I’m grateful for your support and encouragement. I have learned that we have phenomenal mentors, students, and families. I have enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to meeting even more families.
We want to celebrate our graduating students. This graduating class is a fantastic group of young men and women. They personify our future as problem-solving leaders who will make a genuine difference in our communities across the state of Utah. LAU, in partnership with Williamsburg Learning, creates a unique academic experience that embodies more than just sitting in a seat. Our students engage in thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving. They practice real-world skills that will allow them to engage in meaningful activities during their subsequent learning experiences. I congratulate the “Class of 2023”! Well done, and best wishes in your next learning journey.
Of course, we are equally excited to work with our students next year. We encourage our parents to complete their registrations. Classes are filling quickly, and we want you to have the best options which support your learning goals. We hope to have our returning students registered by the end of May. Please get in touch with your school counselor if you need assistance or support in this process.
Finally, thank you to our families, staff, mentors, and especially our students. It has been a rich and rewarding year. We hope you have an outstanding summer filled with learning and growth. See you next August!
Warm regards,
John Tripp
Executive Director, Leadership Academy of Utah
Action Items
Important 2023-24 Registration Reminder: In order for your student’s 2023-24 class schedule to be approved, they must be registered for the minimum number of required classes. Middle school students are required to register for at least four classes, and high school students must register for at least five classes. If a student wants to take more than 8 classes, they should contact their counselor for approval. Please see the Parent Student Handbook Enrollment section or the LAU website for help if needed. Please reach out to your student’s school counselor, Kate Chaney (for last names A-L) or Shauna Larson (last names M-Z), with any questions. We encourage all parents to register for fall classes by May 30 to secure the best schedule for your student before summer!
