COVID-19 Contingency Plan

LAU’s COVID-19 Contingency Plan in Accordance with Current State Guidelines

We are continuing to monitor state guidelines in response to COVID-19 and are prepared to adapt accordingly. Below are our contingency plans if guidelines prevent a normal return to school. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Contingency plan for ILCs:

LAU will follow all state guidelines and requirements to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 per the Utah State Board of Education’s School Reopening Planning Handbook. Guidelines for in-person learning at ILCs may vary by location and risk level. Please contact your Site Coordinator for specific details about restrictions/modifications at your ILC.

Contingency plan for Outdoor Adventures:

LAU will follow CDC guidelines for team sports to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 during adventures. Guidelines for in-person Outdoor Adventures may vary by location and risk level. Please contact your Site Coordinator for specific details about restrictions/modifications.

Students who are feeling unwell should not attend adventures until they are feeling better. Mentors and trail guides will monitor students for illness as they arrive at adventures. Students who are comfortable wearing masks may do so since we will not be able to maintain six feet distance at all times. Additionally, we will follow guidelines set by individual venues. If a venue requires masks, students will need one to participate. We encourage students to bring their own masks for adventures when one is required.

Contingency plan for Funded Independent Courses:

We will not offer funding for these courses if state or local guidelines prevent students from participating with their chosen vendor. We will resume offering funding where possible as guidelines allow.
