Graduation Requirements

*The only high school class taken in middle school that can go on a high school transcript is HS Math 1 or higher
Program | Required Credit | Required Courses |

Leadership | REQUIRED* | Complete Personal Leadership A/B, Social Leadership A/B, Professional Leadership, and Financial Leadership. At Leadership Academy of Utah, our leadership courses are what we build our curriculum around. They are our core classes. As such, all leadership classes must be completed to graduate from LAU. These leadership courses fulfill certain state requirements as noted. |
Math | 3.0 Credits | Complete all of the following: HS Math 1 A/B, or Algebra 1A* and Geometry 1A** HS Math 2 A/B, or Algebra 1B* and Geometry 1B** HS Math 3 A/B, or Algebra 2* Students may also take Pre-Calculus A/B. Any of these math courses taken in MS may also count towards HS graduation credits. Students who complete pre-calculus and another math class on this list only need 2 credits instead of 3. A student who has completed Algebra 2 (not currently offered at LAU) does not need to complete any other HS math courses. Note: Pre-Algebra is equivalent to 7th Grade Math & Intro to HS Math, and is a non-credit course for high school. *These courses are no longer offered live, only self-paced. **These courses are no longer offered live, only self-paced. |
Science | 3.0 Credits | Complete 2.0 credits of foundational science courses (Earth Science A/B, Biology A/B, Chemistry A/B, Physics A/B) plus 1.0 credit of an additional foundational or any other science course (such as Astronomy A/B). Note that many selective colleges want to see the following courses on an applicant’s transcript: Biology A/B, Chemistry A/B, Physics A/B. |
Social Studies | 3.0 Credits | Complete U.S. History A/B, Government & Economics A/B, World Civilizations (0.5 credit), and Geography & World Events (0.5 credit). The Civics Exam is taken in Government & Economics B. We recommend that World Civilizations and Geography & World Events be taken during 11th and 12th grade. |
Language Arts | 4.0 Credits | Complete Writing & Rhetoric A/B (LA 9), American Lit A/B (LA 10), Political Lit (LA 11A) (0.5 credit), Short Stories (LA 11B) (0.5 credit), and World Lit A/B (LA 12). |
PE & Health | 2.0 Credits | Complete : Mind & Body Stewardship (satisfies 0.5 Health credit). Fitness for Life* (satisfies 0.5 PE credit). One additional credit from the following courses: Independent PE (0.5 credit) and Outdoor Adventures (0.5 PE credit). Students may take Independent PE multiple times. Personal Leadership B (0.5 credit) satisfies Fitness for Life requirement. |
Fine Arts | 1.5 Credits | Any 1.5 credits, including from the following courses: Independent Fine Arts (0.5 credit), 3D Design: Modeling, Animation & Printing* (0.5 credit), Digital Art & Graphic Design* (0.5 credit). Students may take Independent Fine Arts multiple times. |
Electives and Second Language | 5.5 Credits | Any 5.0 credits. See the Electives Program on the Williamsburg Learning site for a list of Elective courses offered. Excess credit in any Program above may be applied to satisfy elective credit requirements upon approval. Note that many selective colleges want to see 2.0 credits of a second language on an applicant’s transcript. |
Career and Technical Education (CTE) | 1.0 Credit | Any 1.0 credit, including from the following courses: Concepts of Engineering Technology (0.5 credit), Marine Science (0.5 credit), International Business (0.5 credit), Entrepreneurship: Starting Your Business (0.5 credit), 3D Design: Modeling, Animation, and Printing (0.5 credit), Digital Art & Graphic Design* (0.5 credit), Game Design & Development* (0.5 credit), Python Programming (0.5 credit), Sound & Audio Engineering* (0.5 credit). Computer Technology | 0.5 Credit | Complete Personal Leadership A (0.5 credit). This course meets the requirements for the required Computer Technology course. |
General Financial Literacy | 0.5 Credit | Complete Financial Leadership (0.5 credit). This course meets the requirements for the General Financial Literacy course. |
