Legacy Learning Scholarship
Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders
Our Philosophy of Learning
At LAU, we believe in seeking out and creating transformational learning experiences. Learning how to think, not what to think, is the key to transformation. Intentionality invites the opportunity to live a hero's story. We believe in pursuing continuous, independent growth for the future through deep, meaningful, and interdependent relationships. It is in the act of giving that we build a foundation that will deepen and broaden itself across generations.
About the Legacy Learning Scholarship
The LAU Legacy Learning Scholarship is designed to celebrate our students' success, help students identify their strengths, and to springboard them into their future, firmly rooting them in a life of learning and growth.
Eligibility
The Legacy Learning Scholarship is an LAU-specific opportunity for seniors graduating from Leadership Academy of Utah. LAU Seniors who qualify and are on track for graduation will be invited to apply for the scholarship by being added to a Legacy Learning Scholarship Canvas Course. Students will then be required to complete the application tasks and submit the application by January 31st.
Award Criteria
Scholarship awards are based on student success (LAU Graduation) and will be tiered according to the length of time the student attended LAU. There is no consideration of GPA or ACT scores. All eligible students who complete the application in full will be awarded the scholarship. Students with incomplete applications or missing information will be disqualified.
Using the Scholarship
This scholarship can be used in any way the qualified student feels will benefit them as they plan for and embark on their continued education. The only request from LAU is that students follow up with LAU and share with us how their LAU education and Legacy Learning Scholarship have impacted their post-high school journey. Students are also encouraged to consider giving back to the Legacy Learning Scholarship program and to seek opportunities to mentor and help others around them.
Support the Foundation
The Legacy Learning Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Parents, students, business owners, and others interested in supporting the LAU Legacy Learning Scholarship program will soon be able to purchase LAU merchandise or make a direct donation to the Legacy Learning Scholarship Foundation. Watch for announcements in the upcoming weeks.

-
Why is this application so extensive?

All qualified students who thoroughly complete the application process will be awarded scholarship funds. The amount of the awarded funds is determined by the number of years the student attended LAU on a full-time basis.
-
What is the purpose of this scholarship?
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide students with a resource as they embark on the next step of their educational journey. This may be a traditional path, such as attending a college or university, or it could be a more unconventional path that involves a more specialized field, like a technical school or apprenticeship. This may also include a self-led journey of discovery.
-
Do my grades, GPA, or ACT score impact my eligibility for this scholarship?
No. This scholarship is awarded based on the fact that you have actively and successfully participated in your educational experience with LAU.
-
Do I have to use this money at an accredited educational institution?
The Legacy Learning Scholarship is about transformation. During the application process, students will explore and define how they plan to utilize this opportunity. For some students, it may mean buying tools or equipment for their chosen field, for another student, it may mean using these funds for tuition or for purchasing books. This scholarship is designed to support students in their next step in their educational journey of transformation.
-
Who decides if my application merits this scholarship being awarded to me?
The Legacy Learning Scholarship Foundation board will review student applications. These individuals are appointed to the board and are subject to the board's bylaws regarding this non-profit organization.
-
Are there any restrictions or future commitments associated with participating?
We encourage all students who participate in this scholarship opportunity to consider doing the following:
- Please check in with the school and let us know how this has impacted you at the 1-year and 5-year mark. (We will ask for an email and cell phone number after your application has been submitted. LAU will email or text you a short survey where you will check in.)
- Consider giving back to the Legacy Learning Scholarship program in the future.
- Reflect on the importance of positive mentoring and when opportunities arise, mentor others.
-
What if I don’t have a mentor to help me with the mentor project?
The mentoring section of the project is a key part of the scholarship application. If you need a mentor, we encourage you to look locally for an individual who works in your chosen field. Contact them and explain what you are doing, and ask if you can job shadow them or meet with them to talk about what their job is like and how you can best prepare to join their chosen field. Most people are willing and happy to share their knowledge.
-
When will the scholarship money be awarded to students?
All scholarship funds will be released to students after all credits have been verified with the state of Utah. We anticipate this to be mid-June.
-
How long must I attend LAU full-time to be eligible for this scholarship?
