Registration in a Nutshell
You’ll register for your student’s courses in our Student Information Services (SIS) system by following the steps below. For tips on choosing the right courses for your student, please review the other sections on this page.

How to Register for Courses in SIS:
- Sign in to your SIS parent account.
- Under “My Students,” click the tab with your student’s name on it.
- Click on the “Registration” tab.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to select your student’s courses in each subject. We recommend registering for both the fall and winter semesters at the same time.
- Note: You can ignore all tuition prices shown in SIS, unless you plan to self-pay for a particular course. Once you’ve selected your student’s courses, move through the final confirmation steps. That’s it!
For help with any of the above steps, please contact our Registrar.

FAQs
Registration Process
-
When do I need to register my student for courses?
As listed in the table below, we have multiple deadlines for registration depending on the time of year. You will only be able to access registration after your student has been accepted at LAU; registration for the next upcoming fall and winter semesters typically opens on the first Monday in February.
Date Accepted to LAU Deadline to Register During Open Enrollment (January) to the first day of Fall registration 14 days from open of Fall registration First day of Fall registration to June 30 14 days from date of acceptance July 1 to July 31 7 days from date of acceptance August 1 or later 48 hours from date of acceptance Please note: Students who are not registered within the timeframes listed above will be at risk of losing their spot at LAU. To help avoid this, we’ll email you a registration reminder as soon as your student’s application is approved.
-
Can my student register for classes on their own?
No, students can’t register for themselves in SIS. Only parents have access to the Registration tab from their SIS parent account.
-
Is registration first-come, first-served?
Yes, registration for admitted students is on a first-come, first-served basis. We have a limited number of seats in all courses, and we do not reserve seats for returning students. However, we always notify current families when registration opens for a new semester.
-
Can I change my student’s classes after they’re registered?
Yes. If needed, you can add, swap, or remove courses from your child’s schedule up to 28 days after the start of each semester.
-
Can I register my student part-time?
No, all students must register full-time at LAU. Students in high school must register for at least 5 classes (including a minimum of 3 core classes) to be considered full-time.
-
What are LAU’s graduation requirements?
Please see our graduation requirements page for a detailed list. LAU high school students who meet these requirements can graduate with an accredited high school diploma.
-
What if my student wants to graduate in three high school years instead of four?
If your student would like to pursue this path, please contact their school counselor to build a plan, then register accordingly. We encourage all students and parents to work closely with our school counselors to build a graduation plan.
-
What if my student is advanced in math or writing?
In this case, you may enroll your student in a more advanced math or writing course. If they have already earned official high school credit for a recommended course, they should work with a school counselor to decide which course to take instead. Or, if you have already developed a graduation plan with an LAU school counselor, simply stick to that plan when registering for courses.
-
What if my student wants split enrollment between LAU and another school?
Please see this section on our main FAQ page for information about split enrollment with LAU.
