Weekly Parent Update
This page will be updated when school resumes in the fall.
May 16, 2025
This will be our final Weekly Parent Update for the school year. Thank you for being such an important part of the LAU community.
Dear LAU Families,
Recently, I have been diving deep into research on the birth dearth. A snippet of family economics I came across showed that increasing the number of family members increases each individual’s sense of value—they feel more needed and experience more belonging because their purpose expands beyond themselves as the number of family members grows.
I believe a powerful education community works the same way. When more students intentionally gather for live classes—actively participating, contributing, and striving for growth beyond themselves—it creates a Transformational Learning Experience (TLE). Each month, as a board, we read several TLEs that LAU students have shared in their classes. Without fail, those experiences happen when students learn to turn their focus outward.
This summer, I encourage you and your student to continue strengthening their educational experience by keeping the focus less on "selfies" and more on "themies." I believe a summer full of "themies" would make LAU one of the most vibrant educational communities in the world!
Cheers,
Molly Foster

Dear LAU Families,
As another school year draws to a close, I am filled with immense gratitude for the incredible support that makes our school community so vibrant and successful.
We loved seeing our students at the Prom! They were energetic and engaged in high-quality interactions—they truly are our future leaders. I was equally moved by the presence of our parent volunteers. Thank you for sharing your passion and time to enrich our students' experiences. Your commitment to supporting our students in all our activities has been invaluable.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to the members of our health curriculum committee. Your thoughtful contributions and dedication to ensuring a comprehensive, high-quality health education for our students are deeply appreciated. The insights you shared into the 8th-grade health curriculum will help make this course top-notch!
Finally, I extend my sincere gratitude to the parents serving on our school board. Your leadership, insights, and unwavering commitment to our mission are essential to our continued growth and success. After reviewing parent surveys and school-wide data, the board has approved a fantastic Trust Land plan. These funds will be spent on Math Tutoring for all students, expanded math curriculum options, Advanced Placement courses, and additional academic support for students who need it. Trust Land funding is a vital part of our school’s success.
Thank you, parents and students, for your partnership, enthusiasm, and steadfast support throughout the year. Our school is at full capacity, and we have a waitlist for next year. LAU is strong and vibrant because of our incredible community!
Sincerely,
John Tripp
Executive Director, Leadership Academy of Utah
